"Life
is boring" or "I’m bored with life" or "my life is boring" are
statements my friend often utters. Being bored is possibly one of the
worst ways to spend any given amount of time. However, with a little bit
of imagination and strategies you can turn some unproductive time into
some pointless yet productive time. I am sharing how I deal with
boredom. It may help you.
Clean your room or your table. Organize your room/table or files. It reduces boredom.
Get social. Go and talk to someone you've never met. Look through your Face book friends list. Message 5 people you haven't caught up with in a long time. Conspire with some friends to do something really nice (really significant and heartfelt) for another friend that deserves it. Make this a regular thing.
Get musical. Listen to your favorite music or sing your favorite song. Make up your own song. Write your own lyrics about whatever you want.
Write. Write about yourself and jot down your thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences. Think about good versus bad experiences. Make up your own fairy tale that includes a ring, a witch, and a horse. Write a letter of advice to yourself.
Observe people. Go to the garden, sit and observe people. Study what’s around you. What are people wearing, what do the interiors of buildings look like, what noises do you hear? If you bring your analytical powers to bear, you can make almost anything interesting.
Go for a long walk. If nothing works to change your mood, long walk can be therapeutic. Go for a walk to the area which is new to you.

Go back to your childhood! Take a nap! Recall you childhood memories. Visualize how you were. Try to recall your childhood interactions with friends, cousins and family members. If possible write these memories. Don’t worry if you can’t recall your childhood. Don’t pressurize your mind. Just relax and do some other activity.
Make lists. Write your top favorite movies of all time, places you would like to visit and favorite friend or persons with whom you would like to spend time with. Write a list of all of the New Year’s resolutions you've broken. Choose two and give them another try. Write your strengths and weaknesses. Think of how you would overcome your weakness.
Quiet reflection. Everyone, regardless of their lifestyle, should spend some amount of time each day in quiet reflection. Go to the quiet place. It can be forest, your room, meditation hall, and temple. Sit in comfortable position and be aware of your feelings. Keep your mind quite and allow thoughts to drift in and out without getting overly engaged. Let go your feelings and thoughts.
Be irrational for a time being. A main reason why boredom has become so pervasive in our culture is that people have become too “rational”. So much planning, thinking, contemplating becomes boring. Do some irrationally act such as go to restaurant, drink water, see menu and come back without eating or ordering anything, run in the open ground without any reason. It can be anything of that sort. Irrational acts are those which we don’t do usually. Remember, it should not hurt you as well as others.
Surround yourself with “Do-ers”. Boredom is addictive, and when we surround ourselves with people who are continuously ensconced in unconscious (boring) activity we tend to get pulled in. Recognize who you hang out with, and who you are connecting with. Again, there are so many people out there doing meaningful, beneficial work, people who are part of the “solution”, and it can become just as addictive to surround yourself with people like this. You can be part of charity organization who self-lessly work for others, or can be part of a group who do some meaningful activities such as cycling, teaching children, helping patients at hospitals, or serving people in need.
Introspect. Sit and think about your life. Ask yourself following questions and try to answer them.
What you appreciate most in yourself.
What are mistakes you made in life and you will never repeat.
What are your happiest moments in your life?
Who are the persons who inspire you the most and whom you can’t forget,?
Who are the persons who you hate?
What you want to achieve in life?
How would you like to live life?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
